McLaren driver Lando Norris has talked about his Austrian Grand Prix crash with Max Verstappen for the very first time since the incident happened last Sunday. Talking to British radio station Radio X, the British driver told he would not do anything differently if he was to relive the experience.
In the dying stages of the Austrian Grand Prix, Verstappen and Norris fought hard for the overall victory in the race. After some failed overtaking attempts, Norris tried a different route and went around the outside of Verstappen's RB20. However, this was without success.
The Dutchman steered slowly to the left and both drivers hit eachother with just 6 and a half laps to go. Both drivers suffered a flat tire after the incident and had to return to the pit lane. Eventually, Verstappen was able to continue his Austrian GP effort and finish fifth with the fastest lap, while Norris saw his race end in a DNF.
Asked about the clash with Verstappen, Norris now says he has reviewed everything and that he would not do anything differently were he to relive the Austrian Grand Prix. Furthermore, Norris seems to have talked to Verstappen, since Norris has backed down on his Verstappen views from after the Sunday's race.
"I reviewed everything, we went through things and let's say I won't really change what I did. I fought, and that's what we want - we want to fight!", Norris began.
"We don't want to complain, we don't want things to end like this, both on Max's side and my side. That's how life is sometimes. We fight, we both want to win and we go to extremes - some a bit more than others. At the same time, I am excited. We'll have more battles together and I'm looking forward to that", said the McLaren driver.
